'Nginx Reverse Proxy Loop Redirect

I have a Nginx fully working (without proxy mode) with this directive configured.

Domain: www.example.com

index index.php;
# [REQUIRED EDIT] if you are using multiple languages
rewrite ^/es$ /es/ redirect;
rewrite ^/es/(.*) /$1;
rewrite ^/gb$ /gb/ redirect;
rewrite ^/gb/(.*) /$1;

If i configure nginx in proxy mode (for better performance), without edit any configuration, the site start in a infinite loop. The site is a Prestashop multilanguage with 2 languages: https://www.example.com/es/ https://www.example.com/gb/

By default load /es/ site, and the infinite loop is over the same url https://www.example.com/es/

I review .htaccess but i cannot see any error:

# ~~start~~ Do not remove this comment, Prestashop will keep automatically the code outside this comment when .htaccess will be generated again

# ~~end~~ Do not remove this comment, Prestashop will keep automatically the code outside this comment when .htaccess will be generated again

If i remove/comment this lines in nginx directives, the site run, but i get some 404 because the rewrite doesn't works correctly.

# [REQUIRED EDIT] if you are using multiple languages
rewrite ^/es$ /es/ redirect;
rewrite ^/es/(.*) /$1;
rewrite ^/gb$ /gb/ redirect;
rewrite ^/gb/(.*) /$1;

What's happening? Is nginx's redirect directive conflicting with Apache's .htaccess?

The solution is:

Replace this lines in nginx conf:

rewrite ^/es/(.*) /$1;
rewrite ^/gb/(.*) /$1;

by

if (!-e $request_filename){
    rewrite ^/(es|gb)/(.*)$ /index.php last;
}

Now, all works perfectly.

Thanks u
