'Event Histroy diffusion models in R or Python

I am wanting to make use of an event history diffusion modeling, spatial and temporal, to analyze the occurrence of protests over a two-month period across the US. While having a decent grasp of the theory, I was hoping for some help with programming the model in R or python. Does anyone have any experience or know of any potential helpful resources for this?
