'What does 'Visibility of sockets and physical cores' for dedicated hosts in aws means?

I am reading about Amazon EC2 Dedicated Hosts. It says a dedicated host gives you visibility of sockets and physical cores. What does this really mean? How would you see the sockets and physical cores on a virtual instance. Appreciate any answers that can further simply this.

You have visibility of the number of sockets and physical cores that support your instances on a Dedicated Host. You can use this information to manage licensing for your own server-bound software that is licensed per-socket or per-core.
