'VSCode titlebar / menubar not visible on MacOS and ALT doesn't work to show either

Have searched multiple resources and found no answer to this. New Macbook and installed VSCode Ver 1.64 but titlebar not visible. Checked all options and settings including both native and custom (default) "Title Bar Style". ALT doesn't make the bar visible as advised in some solutions either. Please any assistance would be appreciated.
