Ubuntu: I cannot upgrade from Node.js v10.19.0 to a newer version

Question

I need to upgrade my Node.js version because of this error:

ERROR: npm is known not to run on Node.js v10.19.0
You'll need to upgrade to a newer Node.js version in order to use this
version of npm. You can find the latest version at https://nodejs.org/

and when I try to follow the instructions on https://github.com/nodesource/distributions, I get the error:

E: Release file for https://deb.whonix.org/dists/buster/InRelease is expired (invalid since 104d 13h 12min 3s). Updates for this repository will not be applied.
Error executing command, exiting

This is really frustrating, I couldn't find anything about this on the internet.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you know other ways of upgrading Node.js, please let me know.
