Orchard CMS 1.10.2 - Error 404 after server update on shared host - "The controller for path '/' was not found "

Question

my blog is hosted on smarterasp and uses Orchard 1.10.2. It started failing with error 404 on root, and when I contacted hoster it turned out my server is updated to Windows Server 2022 and IIS 10 whcih coincides with day when errors started appearing. I am using autoroute in Orchard.

What could cause the error, and how can I fix it?
