'Leaflet: Widening the world bounds

The world bounds cuts off any points further west than -180 degrees or further east than 180 degrees longitude. I would like to extend the world bounds to be between -240 and 240 degrees longitude. I have not found anything that addresses this in the leaflet docs.

Extending the map's maxBounds does not allow for more data to be plotted. This seems to be a limitation of the CRS but I have not found an alternative CRS (to the standard mercator EPSG: 3857) that allows for this use case.

I have also not found anything that would allow two worlds to be rendered by the same map.

The datapoints are generated on a html canvas (L.canvas()) and placed using latlngToLayerpoint().

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
