'Inconsistencies creating Azure VM disk space alerts
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, or if this should maybe go to MS support.
Brief background, we recently separated from our MSP, and I've taken over a majority of the duties, including monitoring. When they left, they took their existing alert rules with them, and I've been recreating them from the ground up.
But I'm running into a weird, inconsistent issue with setting disk space alerts. How it should normally work is New Alert Rule > LogicalDisk% Free Space > (Dimension)Instance (Operator)= (Value)C: as seen here and here (dropdown view)
But for some servers, I don't have any of the disks as an option to choose for instance value. What's even more confusing is that our MSP did have it set on these problem servers so that Instance = C: or Instance = D:, but I don't have those options myself.
I thought maybe it was because they did it through PS, since the GUI is always buggy, but when I tried to create the rule via PS and specify Instance = C:, it created the rule but just left the dimension settings as default like they weren't even specified.
