'How to properly insert W with a "^" upon it in Latex?

I'm trying to insert a capital W with a "^" upon it, however the space between W and "^" is too big and looks ugly in a inline math formula, how can I do it properly? Below is what I use

$\mathop{W}\limits^{\^{}}$

and the output is

latex xelatex
