'CSS/JS slider effect

I'm having a bit of trouble with this one, client has requested i recreate the effect on the 'zendesk isn't' slider about 2/3 of the way down the page here

I just can't seem to replicate the effect accurately and even if i get close using opacity and filter:blur together they want it exactly like the one on this page

Would really appreciate some help on this one as it's really starting to bug me and i'm obviously missing something crucial
