'automatically strip Exchange-inserted tag from Subject: line using Apple Mail client

A user is using the default Apple Mail client to collect email from an Exchange server which inserts a tag into the Subject: line of certain messages.

He'd like to be able to Reply, Reply-All, Forward, etc. these messages and have the tag automatically removed, so it doesn't start an ugly chain of "Subject: Fwd: [tag] Re: [tag] Re: [tag] " Subject lines can be manually edited on the way out, but this is pretty much every email he deals with, so it would be nice to never have to think about it.

Can this be done with a simple rule inside Apple Mail or does it require an external script? I'm having trouble processing how Automator would get called in this situation, or even if it's a good idea to drag something like that into the solution.

Any suggestions would be welcome, the simpler the better. The user is never going to learn how to write scripts, so this would be something I'd have to maintain.
