'Gradle deletes all folders in directory when trying to build using assembleRelease

Just like the title says, Gradle is deleting all the folders in the current directory when using the command sh ./gradlew assembleRelease I am using a Mac and Gradle version 7.0.2

When searching on Google, all I find is how to do it, not what may be causing it.

I am not quite sure what other information you would need, so please let me know if you need more.
